My Thoughts on the Horror Movie “Eaten Alive!”
It’s no secret that I have a love for horror movies, so naturally, I was excited to watch “Eaten Alive!” I had heard mixed reviews but decided to give it a chance anyway. After watching it, I have to say that my overall feeling towards the movie is disappointment.
The Storyline and Plot
The plot revolves around a man named Judd and his pet crocodile who run a motel in rural Texas. Judd becomes increasingly unstable throughout the film, leading him to murder some of his guests and feed them to his crocodile. The story itself is interesting, but the execution falls short. There are many plot holes and inconsistencies that left me feeling confused at times.
The Cast and Acting
The cast is made up of mainly unknown actors with one exception – Robert Englund who plays a minor role. While the acting isn’t terrible, it’s not great either. There are some moments of overacting which can be cringe-worthy at times.
The Characters
The characters in “Eaten Alive!” are one-dimensional and lack depth. The only interesting character is Judd, the motel owner, who is the antagonist of the film. Unfortunately, his character development falls short and we’re left with a poorly developed villain.
The History and Popularity
“Eaten Alive!” was released in 1977 and directed by Tobe Hooper, the same director who brought us “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. While it wasn’t as successful as his previous film, “Eaten Alive!” has gained a cult following over the years.
The Cinematography
The cinematography in “Eaten Alive!” is mediocre at best. There are some creative shots here and there, but overall, it’s nothing special.
The Soundtrack
The soundtrack for “Eaten Alive!” is forgettable and generic. There’s nothing memorable about it and it doesn’t add to the overall mood of the film.
The Special Effects and Dialogue
The special effects in “Eaten Alive!” are lackluster. The crocodile looks fake and the gore is unconvincing. The dialogue is also bland and forgettable.
The Scenes
There are some suspenseful scenes in “Eaten Alive!” but they’re few and far between. Most of the scenes are dull and slow-paced, leaving me bored at times.
The Analysis and Evaluation
Overall, “Eaten Alive!” is a forgettable horror movie that fails to deliver scares or a cohesive story. While it’s not the worst horror movie out there, it’s certainly not worth watching unless you’re a diehard fan of Tobe Hooper or cult horror films.
My Final Thoughts
Watching “Eaten Alive!” left me disappointed and underwhelmed. While there are some redeemable qualities to the film, they’re overshadowed by its numerous flaws. It’s a shame because the premise had potential, but it just falls flat in execution.
